I believe that every child deserves a chance to learn to read one successful step at a time.
That means giving him quality material at his success level... not the level where we wish he was.
I absolutely believe that this is how we can accelerate his/her reading growth.
Differentiating our reading instruction allows every child to experience one successful experience after another.
Guided Reading is the epitome of Differentiated Instruction.
I also believe that every child deserves equal access to the core content information they need or are required to know.
And I know that both word analysis and comprehension need to be taught explicitly step-by-step.
I am passionately committed to giving teachers the tools necessary to do this.
I have worked in all 50 states as well as internationally in an effort to encourage teachers to make their best better.
One of my forte's is modeling the Guided Reading process through classroom demonstrations. Teachers have a chance to see this incredible process in action with their children!
I have traveled six and a half hours into the middle of the Central American rainforest to train village teachers to use the Guided Reading process.
I have spent a great deal of time on the Alaskan tundra in very remote fishing villages training teachers and working with the Yupik Eskimo children.
So as you can see, whether by car, plane, boat or ATV, I will literally go to the ends of the earth to teach others how to differentiate their reading instruction and teach Guided Reading!
